Song translations, pt. 1.
Greetings!
After sniffing around for some listening material, I found a punk band called "Mašinko". Their album "Svugdje je doma..." came with a songbook. With my extremely limited knowledge of grammar, common sense, coffee, and a printed dictionary I tried my best to put together a translation of one of the songs I picked randomly. Also worth mentioning since the dictionary i have is a croatian-hungarian one, so this is more like a croatian-hungarian-english translation. That might add an extra layer of confusion on top of the whole thing. :D
Jedne noći u ponoć -- One night at midnight
Jedne noći u ponoć na moja vrata -- One night at midnight on my door
Pokucat će smrt i reći: idemo na put -- death is going to knock and say: we’re going on a journey
Provedi sa mnom još malo vremena -- (no clue), something about little more time
Debela već pjeva pjesmu za kraj -- (no clue) fat/already/song/singer/for/end?
Samo ne želim umrijeti sam -- i do not want to die alone
Kao luđak, kao svrgnuti vođa, kao pas -- like a madman, like a deposed leader, like a dog
Prijatelji, u našu čast -- friends, in our honor
Pjevam ovu pjesmu zajedništva -- i sing this song of togetherness
Tamna je sjena svuda oko nas -- The shadows around us are dark
A ova boca je pješčani sat -- and that bottle is a hourglass
Vozi nas u krug ovaj ludi cug -- carry us (?) in circle (?) this insane (i have no clue what "cug" is)
Ako umrem mlad, znaj da bio sam ti drug -- if i die young, know that i was your buddy

Jedne noći u ponoć -- One night at midnight
Jedne noći u ponoć na moja vrata -- One night at midnight on my door
Pokucat će smrt i reći: idemo na put -- death is going to knock and say: we’re going on a journey
Provedi sa mnom još malo vremena -- (no clue), something about little more time - spend a little bit more time with me
Debela već pjeva pjesmu za kraj -- (no clue) fat/already/song/singer/for/end? - the fatty (referring to a fat woman (singer)) is already singing the song for the end
Samo ne želim umrijeti sam -- i just do not want to die alone
Kao luđak, kao svrgnuti vođa, kao pas -- like a madman, like a deposed leader, like a dog
Prijatelji, u našu čast -- friends, in our honor
Pjevam ovu pjesmu zajedništva -- i sing this song of togetherness
Tamna je sjena svuda oko nas -- The shadows around us are dark - the dark shadow is all/everywhere around us
A ova boca je pješčani sat -- and that this bottle is a hourglass
Vozi nas u krug ovaj ludi cug -- carry us (?) in circle (?) this insane (i have no clue what "cug" is) - this crazy/insane 'cug' (something like colloquial word for 'sip') carries us in circle
('cug' might be a metaphor for something, though, for something like whirlpool that sucks things inside it and carries them around - based on the context of the song, this could be the case)
Ako umrem mlad, znaj da bio sam ti drug -- if i die young, know that i was your buddy
PS. I like the song
