Easy choices, hard life. Hard choices, easy life. I am starting this article with this quote from jerzy gregorek :" Easy choices hard life, Hard choices easy life". Is it strange? I was listening to Tim Ferris in one of his amazing talks and he came up with this phrase who really made me think about my life and the possibile outcome of my choices. The main topic was FEAR of doing, of being, of having, of trying, in general Tim was trying to focus his speech on how we could dramatically change our lives if we figure out our fears instead of reaching out for our goals. It sounds not usual but it is very interesting once you've tried it. The main principle is to draw a table where you write down the possibile outcomes of your fears... Do you want an example? Let's say.. I would like to leave my partner.. FIRST: What is my biggest fear abut that? The biggest fear is to be alone and feel miserable (example) SECOND: What can I do to prevent this outcome after my action? Well, I could talk to people that have already done that with a positive attitude, I could talk to them express my feeling, my anxieties and understand the fact that my fear is not the reality. THIRD: IF my fear became real (in this case I 've left my partner and feel really alone) what can I do to heal? Well, I could be join friends, people, I could enlarge my circle of social interaction and meeting new and interesting people. Can you try that for most of your fears? You'll find this VERY challenging yet very useful tool to be HAPPIER. Last thing I'd like to share is this: when you don't find the courage of taking action you have to take into account the side effects of the INaction so ask yourself this question: How my life will be if I stay in this situation for other 6 months.. or 1 years.. or 3 years?? ANSWER HONESTLY... What seems a trivial game can turn out in an amazing improvement for your lives, now take the paper and try what I just told you in this article. This is fucking powerful. Well, I leave you with a last quote and I want you to think about this one as well: " We more often suffer in our immagination than in reality" ( Seneca). Have a good day and let me know the feelings you will have after trying this exercise.
