VII – Women’s Crusade against Men – My daughter The phone rungs and made me stop thinking about my meeting with the heart hospitals doctor months ago and my reaction at that time. It was my daughter Patricia. She wanted to know how I was going on with all the problems happening with the shortage of foods and all the problems caused by the feminist movement and women strike. She knew me well, even better than her mother and perhaps even than myself. We always got along perfectly. She was the best daughter a father could have. Even before I say anything, she knew I was well. Being very independent all my life and able to manage, at the same time, my job as a legal adviser and take care of myself and also helping in the housework. I was a kind of father who used to tell fairly tales and invent my our stories to her and her two brothers, at the time they were little children, before they were going to sleep. It was me, not her mother, who had taught Patricia to cook rice and prepare salads when she was only ten years old. The phone call was only a pretext to talk to me, as if she needed some. Anyway, I asked her also about Lara, my granddaughter, and the book she was illustrating and she said she was almost in the end. We finish our talk with the usually, I love you dad, I love you daughter. Then, I went to the spare bedroom transformed in my office at home. The desk computer with its large monitor was still on and already opened in italky page. Before start working I took a look at the messages from the italki friends around the word had sent and I answered a few mails. One of the messages I received, from a Chinese friend who lives in Beijing reported me about an article in CCTV News with the following content: “Violence and discrimination against women are still serious social epidemics. Despite the progress made by women’s movements in raising awareness and challenging equality for women’s rights violations, serious discrimination continue to target women all around the world. Why are women always the victims of domestic violence? What should be done to ensure women’s rights to education? How would the future of Arab women emerge following the Arab’s spring?” PS - Thanks for correcting my text. Thanks also for your comments and concern form some friends about my health. As I told them, what I write here is only unpretentious fiction in order to improve my ability to write in English.

VII – Women’s Crusade against Men – My daughter

The phone rang and made me stop thinking about my meeting with the heart hospital's doctor (or the hospital's cardiac ward doctor) months ago and my reaction at that time.

It was my daughter Patricia. She wanted to know how I was getting on with all the problems happening with regards to the shortage of food and all the problems caused by the feminist movement and women's strike. She knew me well, even better than her mother and perhaps even than myself. We always got along perfectly. She was the best daughter a father could have. Even before I could say anything, she knew I was well. [After all,] I had been very independent all my life and was able to manage, at the same time, my job as a legal adviser and taking care of myself and also helping with the housework. I was the kind of father who used to tell fairy tales and invent my own stories for her and her two brothers, when they were little children, before they were going to sleep. It was me, not her mother, who had taught Patricia to cook rice and prepare salads when she was only ten years old.
The phone call was only a pretext to talk to me, as if she needed one. Anyway, I also asked her also about Lara, my granddaughter, and the book she was illustrating and she said she was almost at the end. We finished our talk with the usually, I love you dad, I love you daughter. Then, I went to the spare bedroom that had been transformed into my office at home.

The [desk] computer with its large monitor was still on and already opened at the italki page. Before starting working I took a look at the messages that my italki friends from around the word had sent and I answered a few emails/private messages.

One of the messages I received was from a Chinese friend who lives in Beijing and reported to me (better to say "...Beijing who had sent me an article...) about an article from CCTV News with the following content:

“Violence and discrimination against women are still serious social epidemics. Despite the progress made by women’s movements in raising awareness and challenging equality for women’s rights violations, serious discrimination continues to target women all around the world. Why are women always the victims of domestic violence? What should be done to ensure women’s rights to education? How would the future of Arab women emerge following the Arab’s spring?”

Good job!  Focus on your prepositions (easier said than done in English, I know) now.

Here's an Aussie salad for you. Cook and cool a few beetroots. Cut into quarters. Add some mixed lettuce leaves then a bit of fetta cheese. Add a salad dressing of oil and vinegar. Bon appetit.
