In cold countries people wear thick clothes ........ warm.
for keep,
for keeping,
for to keep,
to keeping
for should be following by the verb ending in "ing".
A cellphone is used for speaking with other people.
A clock is used for telling the time.
to is followed by the present tense
A cellphone is used to speak with other people.
A clock is used to tell the time.
so another correct answer (though it is not here) could be "to keep"
In England people are always talking about ........
weather,
a weather,
the weather
The only article ever used with weather is "the".
"How is the weather?"
"The weather is good."
You've heard of Mohammed Ali, ....... ?
don't you
haven't you
had you
didn't you
Because the beginning of the question is in the present perfect tense the conjoining clause also has to be in the present perfect.
You have heard about Johnny, haven't you?
In order for the answer to be "didn't you" the beginning of the question would have to be simple past: "You heard about Mohammed Ali, didn't you?"
He is one of ....... boxers in the world.
the famous
the most famous
more famous
the famousest
You want to pick "the most famous" because "one of", when describing someone or something, is followed by the definite article "the" which in turn is followed by the adjective in its superlative form. In this case, the superlative is "most famous", since "famousest" is not the correct way to write the superlative form of "famous".
Other examples:
She is one of the prettiest girls in school.
He is one of the smartest boys I know.
She is one of the most humble girls I have ever met.
After he ....... an Olympic gold medal he became a professional boxer.
had won
have won
was winning
would win
This is correct, good job!
Then, when he became a champion, his religious beliefs ....... change his name.
have made him
made him to
made him
would made
When a subject is acting on a direct object, the preposition "to" is usually not needed, with a few exceptions such as when using the verb "told", "I told him to get out of bed."
I made her get out of bed.
Sally took the dog for a walk.
Her new beliefs made her think differently.
I kicked her in the head.
I made him go outside to fetch the morning paper.
Notice none of these have "to" after the direct object.
