Hello
Who can say if there is a mistake in this sentence ?
The mechanic had to took the motor apart to see what was making the noise.
I saw this example in website related to english lessons
But can i use took here instead of take ?
I' ve never heard such structure
Like had to Took ( in past)
I guess it should be in infinitive The mechanic had to take .
Thank you

Yes, you're right - it should be an infinitive after had to:
The mechanic had to take the motor apart ...

- had to take
- could also be "had taken the motor apart" but of course this has a different meaning
