Who was beheaded in an open boat? ' I don't know what event is 'plndered the Begams'. Is there anyone who knows it? Thank you!

You haven’t heard of those events because they are fictitious historical events in the fictitious universe of the novel. The point of that paragraph is that history classes in that universe foolish — students are forced to memorize meaningless facts without actually understanding anything.
