There is a sentence in the book of Geoge Orwill, which is' They were the kind of stupid question that is answered by rapping out a name of quotation. Who plundered the Begams? Who was beheaded in an open boat? ' I don't know what event is 'plndered the Begams'. Is there anyone who knows it? Thank you!

You haven’t heard of those events because they are fictitious historical events in the fictitious universe of the novel. The point of that paragraph is that history classes in that universe foolish — students are forced to memorize meaningless facts without actually understanding anything.
