Today I am going to talk about the summary and reflections of Frindle. This book describes a story happening in Lincoln elementary school. The main character, Nick, who has plenty of ideas, had a special thought about creating a new vocabulary “Frindle”. At first, He asked his friends to use “Frindle” to replace the word “pen”. After they continued speaking this new word, every student in Nick’s class and whole the school students felt fun and kept joining them. But there was someone disappointed about this crazy idea. she is Mrs. Granger, Nick’s language art teacher. Mrs. Granger did her best to avoid them use “Frindle”, she even made an announcement to stop this kind of behavior by asking them to stay after school if anyone uses “Frindle” instead of “pen”. However, they chose to start a word war with Mrs. Granger rather than change their mind about using the new word. This thing even spread to the whole country because of some news. More and more kids enjoyed using “Frindle” and were proud of Nick. Time flies, everyone forgot this event gradually, and Nick turned into a university student. He got a letter from Mrs. Granger. She said that she was glad to be Nick’s language art teacher and was fond of the idea Nick came up with. She also apologized for disagreeing with this idea at first. In the end, “Frindle” had been added into the dictionary, and the word war between Nick and Mrs. Granger ended in happiness. Now, I’m going to introduce my reflections on this book. It is an interesting opinion to create a new word for me. I think Nick was so brave to insist on his thought while his teacher disagreed with them. But turn to another term, isn’t it the thing kids should do? In our childhood, we may have several crazy dreams in our minds. If we set up a lot of rules to prevent children do what they want to do. They will lose the chance to try, to learn, to fail, and to stand up. Therefore, I think it will be an unforgettable experience for Nick to accomplish his dream.
