I had strict parents, who set the rules. They said when I turned eighteen years old, I had to take the responsibility to make a living. Therefore, I started working and getting two part time jobs at the time. The days were tough, especially compared to other classmates had abundant allowance.
Seven years had passed, and I would say my parents set a good regulation. Because of it, I learned how to count on myself at an early age and I cherished every penny. If I have kids in the future, I will do the same thing.

Hey Jacy
Even though you had a tough time you came out successful and you learnt from your experiences. Let’s see what we can learn from this now!
You did fantastic when you said “had to take responsibility…” Since we are in the past tense (had) then we make sure the words following agree with that! That’s why we have to say “…take the responsibility of MAKING a living.” That would be the past tense form and would be 100% correct!
Furthermore, instead of saying “learnt to count on myself,” you could say you “learnt to be independent.” That’s a word that means the same thing that you said! Hope you found these tips helpful Jacy :)
