The first option is better. The second is a bit konglish ;)

The first is much more natural and common, in US English at least. It may seem like you need the adverb form, but using the adjective form is pretty common in this sort of construction.

both seen weird to me
not sure whether you mean "let's become stronger by the end of this season" or "let's move up on the score board"
