I have found a re-agent which is precipitated by hoemoglobin, and by nothing else
What does re-agent and precipitated mean here?

A "reagent" is a substance that acts as a catalyst, or causes a reaction. "To precipitate" is when a substance is separated from a solution or suspension. I think Doyle should have said that it's a reagent that causes hemoglobin to precipitate from latent blood stains.
