The word “jak” in Polish usually means “how”, but it has several other uses. It can mean “what…like”, “like/as”, appear in fixed expressions (jak zwykle – as usual), and even refer to an animal – a yak (W zoo widzieliśmy jaka. – We saw a yak at the zoo). Context decides the meaning every time.
