What does 'gross' mean? Revenue? In this case 'dollars'?

CEO: Monday through Thursday, how busy are you?
Franchisee: We're doing about 1,200 gross. Friday we're doing, like, about 3,400.

Gross means money earned before taxes are taken out. So the gross amount isn’t what a company gets to keep. Money the company keeps (i.e., after taxes are deducted) is referred to as “net.”
