Hello English learners! Prepositions can be difficult in English. Do you know the correct answer?
The second prepositional phrase does not necessarily modify "branch". For example, the sentence "I am in France in a restaurant" does not mean that France is in a restaurant.
You are both "on a tree" and "in a tree" so all three sentences are correct. None is wrong.
