Fun fact: Our English word "chief" was evolved from the French word "chef"(de cuisine) which means head of the kitchen. The head or leader of something. Therefore, one way to remember how to pronounce chef is that the "ch" sound will be borrowed from the typical "ch" sound in French. :)
