Just found out that ‘sirena’ is the word for both siren and mermaid.
I know in English we have words that mean many things like ‘boot’ but this one is great! :)
PS: feel free to share any other cases like this or words where the Italian to English translation doesn’t make sense

Other examples of words that in italian have different meaning ( polisemiche) are:
- "credenza" : it means both 'cupboard' and belief
- " squadra" : it means both 'team' and ' drawing square'
- "caccia" :it means both ' hunting' and ' fighter jet"
And...there are many more!!!
