She held out her hand to me, and I took it for a second. How to understand these two verbs "hold out" and "take" Could someone help me to replace these two words with another verb more specific? Or expression the meaning in another way? Thanks

She held out her hand to me, and I took it for a second. She reached her hand toward me, I grasped it for a second.

I would note as well that ‘hold out’ can be a phrasal verb too meaning to wait.
