I found an American author has written (ostracised) by change s to z, this way(ostracized)
I thought British who write z usually not Americans.

It's the other way around Sara! The Brits use "s."
The Americans use "z."
We Canadians often use "z" because spellchecker utilizes American spelling here.
The Americans are our closest neighbours . . . Neighbors?
