and describe why he/she is your favourite actor/actress.
One of my favorite actors is the Japanese Kabuki actor Bandō Tamasaburō V.
He is a full-time actor. He didn't have easy beginnings, because he was not born into a distinguished family of the Kabuki world.
He performed Lady Yang in Yokihi, a mix of kabuki and Peking Opera, and Du Liniang in the phenomenal Kunqu
opera "The Peony Pavilion" (Sino-Japanese version). Lady Yang was initially Emperor Xuanzong of Tang's daughter-in-law, but then the emperor took her into his palace as his concubine. Attending on the Emperor is like sleeping with a tiger. Ultimately she became involved in palace affairs, and was killed in Maweipo.
I like him because he works hard, came to China to study opera, and made a good combination of Japanese Kabuki and Chinese opera. In Yokihi, he expressed desperation and loneliness well. His thin white face and dark hair reminds me of how Lady Yang was forced to die in Maweipo, falling on the ground covered with dust in such a cold world. He also performed the faintness and weakness of Du Liniang very well in "The Peony Pavilion," in which she wastes away and dies.
