What does “fair” mean in this lyric of the song titled Hold On by Wilson Phillips?
I know there’s pain
Why do you lock yourself up in these chains?
No one can change your life except for you
Don’t ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and your mind
Is it really **fair** to feel this way inside?
I know that lyrics can be interpreted in many ways, but I’m not even getting the vaguest sense of that sentence.
What would the sentence mean/imply? Does “fair” here mean the same as in “it’s not *fair* that the rich always wins.” Thanks in advance!

Here “fair” can mean “right” or “okay”. Is it right (okay) to feel this way inside.
