For Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, it's Plena and Bomba. Plena was created by early Puerto Ricans and it takes the dances and music that root all the way back to Spain and even Arabic culture. Bomba was created by the African slaves to try to communicate in a way where their owner wouldn't understand. It is danced to drums, and contrary to regular dance, the dancer doesn't follow the music...the drummer follows (and is lead) by the dancer. I love it so much!
