Chains refers to a group of businesses (shops, restaurants, hotels, etc) owned by the same person or company. A big chain is a brand with many locations, for example McDonald's, Starbucks, Walmart, Marriott, and so on. This is in contrast to what we call mom and pop shops.

Big chains in this context would be big necklaces. Chain is a slang word for necklace.
