What does "the runs" mean? Only found diarrhea in dictionary. (They are fishing)

A fisher might know a more technical meaning if this is fishing jargon.
As someone who doesn't fish, I would say "the runs" are referring to to the fish pulling on the line as it tries to swim away. It could be the fish "running away" from the fisher or the fishing line "running out" of the spool, but either way the general meaning should be the same.
