Have you seen a new movie “Tinder Swindler”? I’ve met here people which were not what they tried to pretend to be. The first guy was obviously a scammer, he tried to make me a friend, and a month later he began to ask me to buy him google subscription for 246$. By the ending of our correspondence he was agree even for 100$. He’s got a few accounts. The second guy said that he was a doctor from the USA. But he wrote with a bad mistakes which were obvious even for me, so I blocked him. The third guy was a “doctor from the USA”, too. I liked his personality and wanted to believe him. One day he said me his real name, the real country and the real occupation. I’m grateful to him for the confession. He’s never asked me for money, he’s not a scammer, but anyway he pretends, and some girls are speaking with him at this moment and don’t know that he is not what they think about him. So, be careful. Don’t believe unknown people, especially successful young men. Don’t believe “Americans” which follow every new girl here. Check their subscriptions or look up subscribers in other girls’ profiles and pay attention for men which you will see many times.

I watched that documentary film few hours ago. I’ve been sending messages to my girl friends to watch it and be careful with their online dating app matches 😭

Hi Julia, certainly there are a few people (maybe more than a few) with bad intentions here, so this is a good warning. I'm currently trying to decide if someone who approached me is a scammer. I'm unsure! But I've also been able to make some very good friendships here with honest people. Anyway you wrote about your experiences well.

Have you seen the new movie “Tinder Swindler”? I’ve met here people who were not who they tried to pretend to be. The first guy was obviously a scammer. He tried to become my friend, and a month later he started asking me to buy him a Google subscription for $246. By the time we stopped writing, he agreed to even $100. He’s got a few accounts. The second guy said that he was a doctor from the United States. But when he wrote, he made a lot of mistakes, which were obvious even to me, so I blocked him. The third guy was supposedly a doctor from the United States too. He had a nice personality, and I wanted to believe him. One day, he told me the truth: his real name, real country and real occupation. I’m grateful that he confessed. He’s never asked me for money, and he’s not a scammer, but anyway he makes things up, and some girls are speaking with him right now and don’t know that he is not who they think he is. So, be careful. Don’t believe people you don't know, especially successful young men. Don’t believe the “Americans” who follow every new girl here. Check their profile or their followers in other girls’ profiles and watch out for men.
We tend to use "United States" instead of USA. Remember to use "who" when the subordinate clause is about a person. I have had the same problem on iTalki with men who are looking for a romantic relationship and clearly aren't on iTalki to learn a language. I agree with your suggestion to check out their profile. That's what I always do before I answer a message.
