Is "We might/may as well.. do smth " a often used phrase in English?

Yes, "We may as well.do something " is used quite often by people who can't make up their minds.
Example: Person A: What do you want to do on Saturday night?
Person B: I don't know. We may as well do something.

"Might/may as well do ..." can also be used to indicate that the user has no strong desire to do the activity.
"We don't have time to cook dinner, so we might/may as well eat at McDonald's"

The "as well" implies there were perhaps other options... but you really couldn't make up your mind. One idea is as good as another; you don't really mind.
