"지내(ji-nae)" is the stem of the verb "지내다(ji-nae-da)" meaning "to spend time doing something" or "to have a relationship with somebody" as KISON RYU mentioned above. 지내다 = the dictionary form(to spend) 지내+었/았+다 = 지냈다 = the past(spent) or present perfect (to have spent) 지내+(하)고 있+다= 지내고 있다 = the present or present continuous 지내+ㄹ 것 이다 = 지낼것이다 = the future(will spend) Here are other variants of "지내고 있다". 지내+ 고 있습니다(polite and formal) 지내+요 (polite and informal) 지내 (casual - used among close friends) As for questiong, 지내고 있습니까? 지내고 있어요? or 지내요? 지내? For example, How are you doing? 1) 어떻게 지내십니까?(polite and formal) 2) 어떻게 지내세요?(polite and informal a bit) 3) 어떻게 지내요?(polite and more informal) 4) 어떻게 지내?(casual and intimate) \^o^/

Jinae( Spend, Pass, associat, hold etc.) ---> 지내. It can be used to express like that. 1. How are you getting along these days?-----> 요즘 어떻게 지내? 2. He lives from hand to mouth----> 그는 그날 그날 지내. 3. I am spending my time in reading----> 나는 독서 하면서 지내. 4. We perform ansestral rites---> 우리는 제사를 지내. If you have any questions regarding others, let me know.
