What does it mean by "bring down the house" and how to use it in a sentence? "His performance was a huge success. The audience brought the house down after he finished." Do I use the expression correctly?

To bring down the house means to win overwhelming approval from an audience.. Therefore your sentence would sound better this way: His performance was such a huge success that it brought the house down. Other example: Her excellent powerpoint presentation to the clients brought the house down.She received a standing ovation.

In this case, 'the house' means the theatre; enthusiastic applause would seem to make the theatre collapse.
