In my in-person class, the favorite thing is usually food, but it depends on the nationalities. Sometimes, if the topic turns into comedy, it can be good. We talked about driving and a macho guy from Argentina talked about his speeding problem, the women gave him good-natured trouble and everyone laughed. Laughing is usually good, learning English is hard work! I have been surprised, I did a class on poetry (one of my college subjects) with some classic English poetry (Frost, Blake) and practice in rhyming, group work. A Mexican guy who is now a local celebrity for his poetry about his life happened to visit, and it was a very inspiring class! I thought it was a big risk when I planned it.
