When do you say "Not if I can help it."? a few examples please.

If I have any influence at all in this matter, it will not happen.
"We're going to have a party next door."
"Not it I can help it." = I will do everything I can to stop the party.
"We're going to have to shut down the charity for lack of funds."
"Not if I can help it. I know some donors who will help."
