about augury, divination, fortune-telling, prophecy
hi all,
I have two questions.
1. What is the difference between augury, divination, fortune-telling, and prophecy?
2. In japan, we generally call these words "占い (Uranai)".
When I worry about about life or love, I sometimes depend on Uranai to get answers.
How about the girls in your country?
thx

All of them are very vague and open to subjective interpretation. There is really no difference. Some of us call it: hocus pocus.

Prophecy: An inspired utterance of a prophet, viewed as a revelation of divine will.
Augury: an event that is experienced as indicating important things to come.
Divination: the practice of attempting to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge by occult or supernatural means.
Fortune telling: predicting your future by going to a fortune teller or psychic, reading your horoscope, using tarot cards, a crystal ball, reading your palms, the Runes stones etc.
I have a pack of Tarot cards that I consult.
