In inglese si dice 'be ready'.
tenersi : ha il significato di 'mettere se stesso in una certa condizione o stato'
tienti (oppure tieniti): imperativo, II persona singolare.
Altri esempi:
-- tieniti forte, questa strada ha mille curve! Hold tight, this road has thousands of bends
-- tienti pure quello che vuoi, vado per la mia strada! You may keep whatever you , I will go on my way.want.
-- tienti pronto, con tutto addosso, quando vediamo il segnale dobbiamo correre per spegnere un incendio. (In una caserma di pompieri)
