Shakespeare is The Bard. You know, the word isn't capitalised for nothing.

Shakespeare is the bard in this sentence. It means a kind of poet, in British culture. Put drama in your travels means make your travels interesting and exciting somehow. Drama being a kind of performance. If in reference to the sentence about Shakespeare, it is kind of a wordplay, just meaning to enjoy Shakespearean culture (the festivals) while travelling.
