Technically, tour, travel or journey are all the same. You travel to another city or country. This action is a journey. You might also say that you went on a tour to somewhere.
To travel is to make a journey, usually over a long distance or to move from one place to another. A visit usually is to go to a place or a person in order to see it/him and spend some time there/with him.
A well-traveled person is who has traveled to alot of countries and has alot of knowledge about travelling and different cultures.
