what's "de-animated" ?

It means the animation has been taken out of it.

'animate' means alive.
'deanimate' means dead. If used as a verb, to de-animate something living would mean to kill it.
'reanimation' means to bring some animal or human back to life. It has actually been done for people that have drowned, if done soon enough. Reanimation after more than about 40 minutes, however only happens in horror films.
