Talking about setting alarm clocks in Chinese. What is the difference between 设定, 设置 , 调到, 定 and 拨?
I have been looking at setting alarm clocks in Chinese and I'm a little confused.
I found several sentences all saying preety much the same thing but they all said 'set' in a different way.
他把闹钟设定在早晨4点.
他通常把闹钟调到早上7点.
把闹钟拨在七点钟响.
你定闹钟了吗?
我会提前设置好闹钟.
What is the difference between 设定, 设置 , 调到, 定 and 拨?

定 is short for 预定(book) in the context of "book a hotel room."
定 could also mean finalize. 这件事就这样定下来了。 不可以再更改了。
拨 means dial (relates to phone). Dial this (phone) number = 拨打这个（电话）号码。
The Chinese usually say 打这个（电话）号码。or 拨打这个（电话）号码。
We rarely use the word 拨 alone as in 拨这个（电话）号码。
定 or 拨 is rarely used today to mean an action that relates time, such as setting an alarm clock.

设定 (long term) VS 调到 (one time)
设定 - 他把闹钟设定在早晨4点。（他的闹钟每天都4点响）。 比如说他早上要起来跑步。
调到 - 他把闹钟调到早上7点。 比如说他明天有个很重要的会议。 他不想迟到，所以他要把闹钟调到7点。 （就为了明天这一天）。
设置当动词的时候有2个意思。
第1个意思，通常是指“放在。。。” (location)。
第2个意思，Configure the settings of something。
调到 vs 设置
通常， 调到 = 设置。 但是调闹钟，指的是调闹钟的（时间）， 几点叫你起床。
设置闹钟， 指的是调闹钟的时间，声音， 或闹钟其它的东西。
定 and 拨闹钟的用法在福建很少听过。 我没听过别人在福建省这么用过。

口语化程度：调>设置>（设）定。拔基本上没听过有人这么讲。在口语中90%的人会说“调”。设置和（设）定只是意思上一样，但是很少在口语用。90% of the people will say "调"，设置和（设）定just have the same meaning as "调",but are rarely used in daily talking.
