There is not ever a difference.
The Jo or Joh sound is like in Job or jock. The ohn or on sound is like pawn or fawn.

John is a common man's name. Jon is pronounced the same way, and may be short for "Jonathan". It is two ways to spell a man's name, and you say them the same way.
