which is the difference between remind and remember?

You can remember something, remember a friend's birthday, remember to get bread at the grocery store, and you might not need any help remembering those things. However, knowing how easily you forget things, you might ask someone to remind you about your friend's birthday, or remind you to get the bread. Hopefully, they won't forget to remind you.

remember = to remember something yourself
remind = to make someone else remember
so, I remember it is my father´s birthday today and I will remind my brother.
