Equivaldría a "año sabático", aunque en inglés no es del todo correcto, ya que año sabático es "a year off", pero "gap year" es un año en el que puedes trabajar, viajar... después del colegio y antes de empezar la universidad, para lo que no hay equivalente en español, ya que si trabajas, no es un año sabático.
"Año sabático" it'd be the same, although in English it's not quite correct because "año sabático" means "a year off", but "gap year" means the year you can take off to travel or work, etc, after finishing school and before starting university, and for that, there's not an equivalent in Spanish, because if you work, it's not an "año sabático" (year off).
