Thererefore, please, Mr. Fungo, try use you skepticism in the right direction!
Here is the dove, PROPERLY said 'colomba' o 'colombo' (male) :

with one of its several scientific name (being many species very similar): Dovius cloviuntas .
The pigeons abound in almost any big Italian city, and I already described a pigeon in a previous question.
I also find repeating myself. The point is that Google, and other sources of information just follow common knowledge, and in this particular case 'common knowledge' is not
enough for your question! Specialized knowledge is what your question requires, so that a deep research is needed.
Another source of ambiguity is that the pigeon, as a species belongs to the
the bird family of the Columbidae, and the pigeon's scientific name is exactly:
Columba livia domestica.
BUT, the scientific name is another thing from the common name!
