il fine settimana o la fine settimana? perche'?

Devi usare 'il fine settimana' se ti riferisci al weekend. Però si può anche usare 'la fine DELLA settimana' se preferisci. Credo che il motivo sia perché 'fine-settimana' venga considerato parola composta di genere maschile mentre 'fine' da solo può essere:
sia di genere maschile - il fine, lo scopo (the goal)
sia di genere femminile - la fine (the end)
