George Bernard Shaw's epitaph says~ Here is George Bernard Shaw's epitaph: " I knew if I stayed around long enough、something like this would happen" I want to know the exact meaning of 'stayed around long enough' Most of Korean and Japanese translatings are 'idled time away' or 'did shilly-shally' Are they correct? What is your opinion? 내 우물쭈물하다가 언젠가 이럴 줄 알았다. " 長い間ぐずぐずしていたら、こんなことが起きるだろうと知っていた。" " もたもたしていたらこうなると思っていた"

'If I lived long enough' is the meaning. He is making a joke out of the inevitable. We all die eventually. W use 'stay around long enough' to imply that we know something bad will happen in a situation. Last night I saw my father get drunk and fall down. I new if I stayed around long enough, something like this would happen. Shaw used this common expression to talk about his death.
