I wouldn't take it personally... What does that mean in this context?
SCRIPT
SUSAN: Oh. (laughs)
MIKE: Bongo! I don’t know why he barks at you, Susan.
EDIE: Oh, I wouldn’t take it personally. Dogs are very sensitive. (goes to Bongo, patting him, rubbing him, looking at SUSAN innocently) What’s up, Bongo, huh? You never know what freaks them out, huh?
QUESTION
Ok. Here are questions:
1. What does "I wouldn't take it personally" imply in this context?
According to this context,
rubbing, carassing, giving the dog some affectionate words mean
"I wouldn't take it personally?"
I don't understand probably because I've never raised a dog. T.T
2. You never know what freaks them out, huh?
-> I think what freaks them out should be changed to "what freaks you out."
Isn't Edie mentioning the single dog? Why does she mention "them"?
Thank you so much for your help.
