I have a question.
Can I say "I went to polytechnic university" to mean that I entered a polytechnic school and studied there?
I think that if I say I went to a polytechnic university, it could mean I just visited the place.

If you add a few word to ( I went to polytechnic university yesterday or two months ago) it means that you visited the place but if you just said. I went to polytechnic university . Now it means you have graduated or studied there befor
