Hey Ri Michael, let me try to explain it: "There are two of us" = "Wir sind zu zweit" / "Es gibt zwei von uns" "They arrived one by ones and twos" = "Sie kamen einzeln und zu zweit" Zu zweit = a pair of people, animals or things. In case of people they don't have to be a couple. Friends or business partners can go somewhere "zu zweit" to. So it simply tells that there is two of them. :) (or three of them -> zu dritt four of them -> zu viert five of them -> zu fünft ...) I hope i was able to help you, if yes, i would be happy about a "thumb up". :) Have a lot of fun and keep on practicing. =)
