What is the difference between つき and 月
From my understanding they both mean moon or month, also to my understanding one is in Hiragana and one is in Kanji, I apologize if I am completely wrong.

月 (つき/tsuki) is the noun moon. Tsuki wo mimashita ka? (Did you see the moon?
月 (gatsu/getsu) means "moon" as in month. Kongetsu wa gogatsu (5gatsu) desu. The current month is May.
