What's the difference between "pretend" and "fake"?
Same to the title,beside, I want to kown how to use them.Thank you very much.

In general, the word "pretend" is more innocent. The word "fake" has the connotation of deceiving with malicious intent. "The children pretended to live in a fairy castle". "The student faked illness to avoid going to school".
