Golden Brown by the Strangler lyrics. What do they mean? Hello everybody! I'm wodering about the meaning of this wonderful song.. I'm not a native English speaker, hence I really can't grasp what does it mean! Since the Stranglers are/were a punk band, I guess it could be about some kind of golden brown drug. Can someone help me? Thanks!

Yes it's about using heroin, but the writer adds that the same analogy is applied to loving a girl.

'Brown' is a slang term for heroin, so you're right, it is about a drug. They intended the song to be vague, though, so people who knew about heroin would understand it, but people who didn't could still enjoy it (the other interpretation was usually that it was about a lover). The Stranglers drummer (Jet Black) once joked that it was about marmite :)) http://www.marmite.com/

I have heard that the euphoric feeling from a high from this drug is orgasmic... So in that case... it can relate to both in a poetic way. :-)
