Please help me clearly understand the word "digress". Is it means...
Is the word "digress" means to change the topic from the original? Is my word usage correct "Our main topic is all about food, don't change the topic. Please don't digress.? And please correct my grammar. It helps improve my english. Thanks in advance!

To deviate or wander away from the main topic or purpose in speaking or writing; depart from the principal line of argument, plot, study, etc.
example :After having tutored and worked with many students in math over the years I have to digress from the results of this study.

example :Let me digress one further moment.
