what is the difference "mistake" and "error"?

Mistake is always something someone did like "he made a mistake". Even tho you could use error. Error is also anything which did not function properly like the computer had an error. No one caused it, it just did not function as it is supposed to.

There is no difference, and my HUGE Russian-English dictionary says they are both ошибка.
