What does "aljazeera" mean?
I was watching "Lost" and came across this word which Sawyer used to call Sayid and I can't find it in my dictionary. Thank you for your help!

Aljazeera is the name of an independent Arab news bureau. It gives the news from an Arab perspective and is respected as being independent of any government.
It is a reference to the fact that Sayid was Iraqi (which is Arab)

Aljazeera is a news broadcasting network in Qatar. It has news articles, videos and websites. It talks about news that goes on mainly in the Arab world, Middle East and other parts of the world. Al-jazeera literally means "The Island",( الجزيرة ) in Arabic. But in this case is referring to The Arabian Peninsula.
