"Topics" means what it always means. It means "topics". He'll be pulling them in = Imagine you are pulling something into your project. This is not hard.

I will be using examples and subjects of discussion (topics) that will best help my students to learn English - subjects that keep their interest and that they will find useful. Something that works on her students would be something that they respond to in a good way.
